Cat Ear Hat Trend

 Cat in the Hat

Fall and Winter have always been my favorite times of year. My mother use to always say, “That’s how you know who can really dress”. And if you really think about it, it’s kind of true. The spring and summer months are effortless. Throw on a maxi dress and flip flops and you’re out the door. But the fall and winter, that’s the time to get creative with layering and accessories. The right scarf, hat or gloves could be just the thing to set off an entire ensemble and create a new trend. This fall we’re seeing many trends such as the wide brim hat make reappearance, but the new must have accessory is the Cat Ear hat. Many celebrities have embraced their inner kitty and put their own twist on this trend. Let’s not forget when the Queen B slayyyyed in her Givenchy kitty hat and ensemble during the On the Run Tour this past summer. Yessss B!!!!

But if you’re like me, I can’t afford to wear Givenchy on a daily bases so I’m forced to find a more price conscious alternative. Forever21 just released a beanie version of this hot trend for as low as $9.90. Even the Kardashians put their own spin on the cat ear releasing a kitty sleeper suit by WildFox Couture for under $100.

This hat is a fun and easy piece to add a little pizzazz to any ensemble. Try it with a sleek pair of sequin pants, cardigan and a cute pointed toe pump when you’re heading out for drinks with the girls or a night out on the town. Perfect for day to night.

Not only is it a great staple for your wardrobe that can be dressed up or down, but it’s a practical enough fashion statement that will keep you warm while your strutting the catwalk aka the sidewalk. What spin can you fashionistas put on the new trend?

The REVEAL, Alexander Wang x H&M part II

Organized chaos! Those are the only words that can be used to describe the official release of the Alexander Wang x H&M collection. This collaboration rivaled that of the Isabel Marant’s H&M collection that debuted just last year. The windows of all of the H&M stores around NYC were uncovered this week to show a sneak peek of what’s to come from the collection. Subway carts and train stations also previewed images from the look book. To keep a handle on the madness, H&M stores provided fliers to clients that shopped throughout the week to help inform them of the events that were to take place today. The lines began to form around 3 a.m this morning! Shoppers, bloggers, fashionistas and photographers all waited for their chance to be one of the first buyers of the collection. Colored wrist bands were given to the first 420 people in line and they were given 15 minutes to go in, view and shop the collection. Only two pieces per style per person where allowed to be purchased at a time. After 4 hours and 40 minutes the store opened to the general public to purchase whatever scraps were left behind. Check out a few pictured I captured from the 5th Ave. Flagship store location this morning!

The launch of the long awaited Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration is right around the corner. In just a few days the H&M on 34th street Harold Square and the 5th Ave. location will be bombarded with fashionistas, bloggers, photographers and fans as the collection will finally be unveiled and ready for purchase. The sporty influence Wang incorporated into this collection is enough to make anyone want to get up and get active, if for nothing else but to look fashionable. Lines for the event are estimated to begin forming around 3 a.m. the morning of November 6. If this event is going to be anything like last year’s H&M collaboration with Isabel Marant, shoppers might want to consider bringing a lawn chair and already have in mind what they plan to purchase. It’s rumored there will be a select few allowed to enter the store at a time and they will be on a 15 minute time limit. My suggestion would be to check out the look book and know what you’re going for. This will avoid you missing out on anything you may wanted to purchase and it also makes your experience all the more better when you don’t have the hassle of fighting to get through large crowds just to view the collection. Check out a few pics from the look book and a video from the fashion show below.

Happy Halloween!!!

This year CLUELESS fashionista, Dionne Davenport aka Stacey Dash, acted as my creative muse. No one can deny the unique style and jazzy personality of this diva in the early 90’s. She was the perfect character which helped me make this ensemble fun and fabulous.

Happy Halloween love bugs!

Cara Delevingne x DKNY

The long awaited CaraxDKNY collection finally made its debut!! 22 years old super model Cara Delevingne launched her 24 piece clothing collection at DKNY flagship store on Madison Ave. and in Bloomingdales on 59th and Lexington. Cara served face, and abs, as she conducted interviews for Teen VOGUE, socialized with fans, took pictures and even danced around with the other super models including the DJ, who just so happens to be one of the models in the DKNY campaign and her BFF. Dozens of teeny boppers (even their parents) spilled into the DKNY store location to purchase, take pictures and to be among the first customers in the country to view the collection. The first 50 clients were awarded a medium sized Cara tote as well as an autographed picture from the Cara campaign. There were also plenty of goodies throughout the store. Male models were present at the event to cater Cupcakes by Melissa, chocolate and vanilla milk shakes and butter cookies with Cara’s face on them. I chatted and took a few pics with a couple of the models from the ad, who was also there supporting Cara’s line. The collection, ranging from $70 for a beanie to $355 for a pair pants, were selling off the shelves. The sporty crop tops, tank tops, body suits, sports bras and leather pants are a great depiction of the corky models personality and style. Check out a few pictures from this afternoon at DKNY.

Scandalize your Wardrobe!

Ok Gladiators, I know we were all excited about the premiere of the new season of SCANDAL, but did you know about the Scandal inspired clothing line that launched this fall at The Limited? Like most of you I watch the show for the drama but I must admit many of the ensembles have made me step up my corporate attire just a tad (lol). Now you can own these chic ad sophisticated looks too. Check out the interview with Kerry Washington, costume designer Lyn Paolo and The Limited’s Head of Design Elliott Staples.
