Cara Delevingne x DKNY

The long awaited CaraxDKNY collection finally made its debut!! 22 years old super model Cara Delevingne launched her 24 piece clothing collection at DKNY flagship store on Madison Ave. and in Bloomingdales on 59th and Lexington. Cara served face, and abs, as she conducted interviews for Teen VOGUE, socialized with fans, took pictures and even danced around with the other super models including the DJ, who just so happens to be one of the models in the DKNY campaign and her BFF. Dozens of teeny boppers (even their parents) spilled into the DKNY store location to purchase, take pictures and to be among the first customers in the country to view the collection. The first 50 clients were awarded a medium sized Cara tote as well as an autographed picture from the Cara campaign. There were also plenty of goodies throughout the store. Male models were present at the event to cater Cupcakes by Melissa, chocolate and vanilla milk shakes and butter cookies with Cara’s face on them. I chatted and took a few pics with a couple of the models from the ad, who was also there supporting Cara’s line. The collection, ranging from $70 for a beanie to $355 for a pair pants, were selling off the shelves. The sporty crop tops, tank tops, body suits, sports bras and leather pants are a great depiction of the corky models personality and style. Check out a few pictures from this afternoon at DKNY.

Scandalize your Wardrobe!

Ok Gladiators, I know we were all excited about the premiere of the new season of SCANDAL, but did you know about the Scandal inspired clothing line that launched this fall at The Limited? Like most of you I watch the show for the drama but I must admit many of the ensembles have made me step up my corporate attire just a tad (lol). Now you can own these chic ad sophisticated looks too. Check out the interview with Kerry Washington, costume designer Lyn Paolo and The Limited’s Head of Design Elliott Staples.

The older I get the more I take my health and fitness into consideration. To be at peak performance not only do you have to be mentally prepared; but physically as well. No matter what your profession or day to day routine may consist of, your health must remain at the top of your priority list. I started my fitness and wellness journey when I moved to New York City. With a high work demand I was not always able to go to the gym. However, I could control what I ate on a day to day basis. I started drinking more water, EATING BREAKFAST, and drinking smoothies throughout the day. I have noticed a difference in my energy levels, moods, as well as my skin. Here are a few easy tips to educate and help get you on the right track to a total body restart…

Deep inside your body lies four slow zones. We can’t do the things we used to do, or not as quickly.
As we reach 30’s, 40’s + our bodies go into what’s called the slow zones:

Zone 1 – BRAIN (stops processing information as quickly = foggy haze)
Zone 2 – DIGESTIVE TRACT (starts to process food at a snails pace – bloat, weighed down)
Zone 3 – THYROID (stalls on hormone production which brings on extra pounds)
Zone 4 – LIVER (starts to clog with fat, processes slower & zaps energy)

• Combine two foods that are good for the brain – Add 1 tsp. coconut oil to cup of coffee.
Coconut oil – builds super fuels in our brain, less inflammation. Coffee – boosts long term memory. No cream or sugar
• Take 18 minute after dinner power walk. Moderate intensity (can’t sing & walk). Helps boost brain power.

• Eat breakfast as biggest meal…dinner should be the smallest meal. Eating biggest meals early give your body time to convert the food to energy. Otherwise the food stays in your gut through the night, causing bloating etc. Wears you down.
• Poor digestive tract = poor immune system =illnesses!

• Selenium add foods rich in selenium into your meals at least once a week. (Sundays?)
Choose a food like mushrooms (crimini, shiitake, portabello etc.)

• Allow your liver to regenerate itself by drinking a daily spinach green drink.
Our live is Very important in detoxifying us. Sugary foods and fatty foods irritate the liver.
Drink a daily spinach green drink. Spinach has glutathione which is important nutrient in helping to detox your liver. Can not be cooked! Recipe below:
o 2 cups spinach
o 2 cups peeled and diced cucumber
o 1 celery stalk cut into 1-inch pieces
o 1/2 tsp grated ginger root
o 1 bunch parsley
o 2 peeled, cored and diced apples
o 1 lime, juiced
o 1/2 lemon, juiced
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend. Enjoy!
