BARBIE set to launch new clothing and accessory collection

Mattel-Barbie-Clothing-and-Accessories-lines

Barbie has proven to not only be a great American icon for all generations but also a brand that has withstood the test of time. From dolls to film to clothes and accessories Barbie transformed a small doll collection into a billion dollar company making it the #1 doll in the world. Starting during MBFW in September, Mattel-Inc. is set to launch a collection of Barbie inspired accessories and apparel, taking inspiration from Barbie’s clothing throughout the decades. With major department stores like Lord & Taylor evoking the more conservative 50’s and 60’s, Wildfox hitting the eighties and Forever 21 channeling the 90’s this new collection is sure to keep Barbie at its number one position. First at bat is Forever 21 launching its 29 piece collection September 5. The collection will consist of outer wear, cosmetics, sleepwear and accessories ranging from $3.90-24.90. On September14 Lord and Taylor launches their 12 piece sleepwear collection ranging from $32-46, targeting a slightly older customer. Finally November 15 marks the launch date of WildFox’s vintage inspired outfits channeling Malibu Barbie in the 80’s. The retro resort style collection will offer swim wear, sunglasses and denim ranging from $37.50-183. Check out a few pieces from the new line.

DONNA KARAN x URBAN ZEN CAPSULE COLLECTION

Donna-Karan-DKNY-fashion-brand-collection-trends-accessories-image-3
In 2007 Donna Karan launched The Urban Zen foundation, a non-profit organization inspired by her global travels. The Foundation includes The Urban Zen store and urban Zen fashion line, proceeds of which go towards the foundations sole purpose; raising awareness and inspire change in the areas of well-being, preserving cultures and empowering children. .This year Karan created a special capsule collection called “The Journey” for July and August instead of just filling her store with pre-Fall items. In a press statement Karan says:

“When a woman walks into a store, she wants to be inspired… She shops for things she can wear here, today; yet also knows she can wear it into the next season. She knows she can’t live at the beach. But she can take that spirit with her when she heads back to the city and into fall.”

The collection consists of 40 pieces, versatile T shirts, one-of-a-kind Indian sari dresses and tops (fabrics were hand-picked by Karan herself in India), a new 3 way signature wrap dress with linen borders that can transform into different looks, scarves, sculpted tunics and a soft leather jacket, to name a few. The use of neutral colors such as tan, bronze, sand, eggshell, indigo and black are hand-dyed by artisan dyers to achieve a sun-kissed look. The collection will be available in Urban Zen’s Sag Harbor location; select pieces will be available in New York City. Check out of few pieces below.

Adriana Degreas SS15

Adriana Degreas SS15

Brazilian fashion designer Adriana Degreas is far from your typical designer. She began her career creating cutting edge swimwear but she didn’t stop there. She expanded her collection to spring as well as fall/winter. Recently, the brand launched Private Gym, an exclusive active wear line again, showcasing her creative diversity and ability. This year Degreas certainly turned heads during Sao Paulo Fashion Week when she presented her SS15 collection. Rich with pastel colors and textures the collection draped effortlessly on the models as they strolled the catwalk. Not only was Degreas able to unveil her collection but Top Model Daiane Conterato opened the show and graced the runway.
